Wow, brilliant. I loved this idea and you did great job. I can see why Jess disliked Dean and where she thought Sam's scars were from (that was a smart insight). I liked it how Jess noticed all those little brotherly things between Sam and Dean, bantering, shared memories, Sam's old nickname and how Sam didn't want her to insult Dean. This oneshot says many things and I would have been pleased if this scene had been in 'Pilot'.

Author's Response: Thanks very much! That's quite the compliment ;) I'd really love to know what Sam told Jess about his family - I can't imagine it would have been much, so what other reaction to Dean could she possibly have? But on the other hand, there's the Brotherly Bond we all love...

i would think that Jess would have liked Dean.....but the pilot never really did explore that scene where the 3 of them were together so i'm not too sure....and i hope that Jess won't hate Dean.....i don't think Sam would have liked that...

Eventually, yeah, I'm sure Jess would have liked Dean. But initially, when all she really knows about him is that he's Sam's brother, he's just broken into their apartment in the middle of the night AND he's hitting on her? I doubt it.

What a wonderful little fic to give Jess a peak at the brother's bond. Loved the way you had her pick up the little things - the way Sam so easily accepted Dean's nickname, his expression that insulting Dean didn't sit well, thier easy banter and shared memories - you alluded to the idea that maybe her dislike of Dean as a terrible part of Sam's life may be misplaced...
And I really loved Jess trying to dislike anything, everything about Dean but finding it difficult...of couse!!
Another creative idea, which fits perfectly. Well done Lara.

Imagining the Sam/Jess relationship, and her opinion of Dean and John, is so much fun. It's a real shame we've got such a short time to show it in! Especially as Dean really can be a bit of a jerk when he wants to.

Wish this had been in the pilot...lovely little insight into the Jess/Dean/Sam dynamic...yeah, should have made the final cut...
