Never any doubt in my mind that Dean earned his stripes the hard way. This clever drabble just oozes Dean's determination and grit. But for me, my interpretation of your words, is John's underlying need to always protect his sons while on the surface it may appear he's harsh and hard. It was not about pushing but preparing. Very cool.
Author's Response: Thank you. And I am in total agreement with what you said about John, that is how I interpret his character and I'm glad it came across in the drabble. :)

What an absolute adrenalin rush was this one!! Sam's desperation, Deacon's instant loyalty - I am in the palm of your hand. A whole story? Hell Yeah!!!
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. If you haven't seen it already, you can find the first chapter of Safe Haven on my profile page. I posted it a while ago but I sent chapter two to the betas at the weekend so you won't have to wait long for updates if you decide to read.

Wow, my heart was beating a million miles an hour with this one. You captured Sam's faith and fear and Dean's never say die attitude perfectly in a little drabble that's based on dialogue and refelction - awesome!!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it so much! It was a little experiment of mine with the dialogue so I'm glad it worked for you. :)

How cute is that? What big brother does in a 'normal' world - hold up their little bro up while he pukes he heart up from a wild night that doesn't include demons, vengeful spirits or wendigos. Another great drabble in the collection. Sorry, I haven't been around for awhile, catching up on your astute little drabbles now.
Author's Response: Thank you! I did enjoy writing about the Winchesters in a more 'normal' setting. And it's nice to see you around again, no need to apologise! :) I hope you enjoy catching up.

Love the style of your drabbles - the sadness, the hope, the despair... you manage to cram so much emotion in to 100 words!
Author's Response: Thank you!
I actually find it easier to pack an emotional punch into 100 words rather than if I had say, 500. Every word is that much more carefully chosen. It's a fun challenge.

What a teaser! So happy you're expanding it! I wasn't expecting it to be Deacon, but then you have the ability to surprise me evertime with the unexpected. When will I learn? You are the master of the drabble!!
Author's Response: Thank you!
I'm hoping to start churning out new chapters of Safe Haven soon. Uni work has been a bit heavy this last month.

Love Sam's defiant thoughts throughout his turmoil. The mark of a true Winchester. His unwavering belief in his big brother to do anything shows here.
Author's Response: Thank you!
I tried a slightly different style for this one so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The rite of manhood---partying till you puke. This shows the true meaning of brothers!
Author's Response: Oh yeah. What are brothers for if not to get you drunk on your birthday?

Leave it to Dean (and you) to take a simple statement and make it profound!
Author's Response: Hee! Yes, I love to include a profound line in a drabble. ;) Thanks.

Wow! Sam layed bare for all the world to see---the brother, the hunter, the man.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm working on a longer ficlet to this one. It may be a while before its posted but it's coming...

So poignant! I can feel Dean's loss and loneliness. Poor broken-hearted man.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad I managed to convey Dean's feelings so well. :)

so beautiful! I love the line "the boogeyman can't reach you in mom's warm embrace and everyone knows ogres are afraid of dads." It's perfect. *secret* I wouldn't sleep with any body part over the edge of the bed until I was married. You know, just in case...
Author's Response: Thanks!
Lol, I have to admit, most of the reviews I've gotten for this have been people admitting how much they related to things like running from the monsters under the bed!

You summed up my thought in a beautiful way. I've always known John dealt with the Yellow-Eyed Demon because he knew him better than any other, knew what would appease him and when he could actually trust him.
Author's Response: Thanks!
Great minds clearly think alike! ;)

You have an incredible talent for seeing things from a different perspective than the rest of us. You help us see it from the Winchester point of view and totally open our eyes. Most of us focus on the sorrow of that occasion, but you held onto the only other emotion that flickered in the room that day. Marvelous!
Author's Response: Thank you so much!
I just thought it was so sad that John finally told Dean what he needed to hear so badly just before he died.

You have an incredible talent for drabbles! You provoke so much thought and emotion in a few scant words. You've made me a fan! I think it's Dean, especially after WIAWSNB. Plus he's the only one of the brothers who actually remembers having both parents. He's never gotten a chance to do what he wanted, only what needed to be done, whereas Sam has followed his dream for a slice of normal life.
Author's Response: Thank you! *blushes* I did write this thinking mainly of Dean, but I think it was before WIAWSNB.

Great title! It fits the drabble perfectly. Never looked at what they do in that light before. It changed my paradigm!
Author's Response: Thanks! I like to look at things from a different angles in my drabbles. :)

So funny! Perfect bored Dean Winchester. He's the most dangerous when he's bored!
Author's Response: *sigh* I'm so late with replying to feedback. Sorry! I'm glad you enjoyed this! :)

Awww I loved Sam checking... (how does that relate to "Red"?)
Author's Response: Thanks! It has a very flimsy relation to red. The boys are talking about aliens from Mars, which is sometimes known as the red planet.

I kinda thought it was John...
Author's Response: I totally could be, I wrote it thinking of Dean or Sam but the beauty of this is that it can be whoever you think.

Your stories...it's amazing what you can do with one word...from the engaging concept and rich, flowing detail, to the satisfying conclusion---it seems to be magic... Please consider these new promps to spark some more magic for your reading fans: spider threads; sealed in; a hunger for power; the idea was almost viral in the way it took off; spikes can work; it hurts less if...; speak slowly, fight quickly; twisted; angling for one last try; that's creepy even for me; smashing through And here, also, are some relatively older promps: final test; crazed intentions; 1300 feet to glory; parking lot mayhem; alliance of necessity; branded by pain's fire; momentary lapse; viscious circle; pontificating ass; conquest of madness; power play; battlefield tested; as alike as fire and ice; hunter's paradox; agent of whispered threats; and this short phrase, "Wings, I need wings, 'cause this flying through the air without them is so not working anymore..." Hopefully, a story or two will result from a few of these...how you take the story idea and cleverly turn-it-on-its-ear (in a good way) during its execution, leads to a most remarkable journey for your readers---as a writer, your stories are a joy to read.
Author's Response: Wow, I'm wearing the biggest smile right now! Thank you for your lovely, kind words! And thank you for the prompts too! Some of them have definitely sparked the muse. I'm working on a multichapter right now, but as soon as I finish it or need a break from it, I'll be popping back to write more drabbles. :)

Now this is really interesting...and I am SO glad to hear you're going to write a fic about it...I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for that one. Can't wait...
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm almost finished chapter one and have a couple of beta's ready so hopefully a little later this week it'll be ready to go. :)

Good job!!! Will be waitning for another one. promt Imapla
Author's Response: Thanks! Oooh, Impala. I haven't written any about the car yet, and there's so much I could write. She's the third star of the show. Yes, there'll definitely be a drabble about the car soon. Thanks! :)

Absolutely loved it...sometimes beating the odds is just what life's all about - and I still love the way your mind works, never just approaching from the front, but always finding an individual and original twist on a prompt...Great work...again!
Author's Response: Thank you! Again *blushes* It's compliments like that which make my day. :)
