Wow!  Just when I thought Sam and Dean were going to have happily ever after the Winchester luck turns things bad again.  Amazing story!

Author's Response: There's no escaping destiny... glad you liked it, thanks!

Wow! Lara what a scary thought you've given me, destinys a bugger isn't it? Whether John had taught them or not, they still would've travelled the same path but with different consequences. Thanks for this very scary yet creative one shot.

Congrats on your feature;)

Author's Response:

Thanks! Any idea how it happened? ;)

And yeah, the only way to stop the events of Cold Oak would be to... make that Azazel had never existed, for lack of a better expression.

That was amazing. Love the balance and tempo with which you write. The "Once Upon a Time" title give us the impression that you are delivering a fairytale, and indeed three thirds of your drabble seem to follow that formula. The best elements of their Supernatural life still present with all the warm fuzzy stuff (Dean share's his first Anniversary with his brother, allowing him to make his big engagement announcement.) provides us with an even more inviting world than WIAWSNB. Loved the line "That is to say, they were always close, but never close". - worked so well in your piece.

BUT... then you go and pull the carpet out from under us with the fact that the course of Sam's life does not change even if the substance of his life does.

Brilliant work, truly deserving of the feature. I looked into your bio and am now tempted to go through your considerable body of work. (Wicked lady and your damnable awesome writing talent - I had work to do this weekend!!!! :-) ) Thanks for a great read.

Author's Response:

Count yourself lucky you're not on ffnet right now - I've got even more storys over there (mostly drabbles though). Should warn you: everyone who manages to read ALL my ramblings tends to go a little crazy... ;)

I find it hard to believe that Dean could have become the man we sort-of-saw in "What Is". Some things, like courage and love and bravery and self-sacrifice and the strength to do the right thing because it IS the right thing, all of which Dean has in abundance, aren't circumstantial, they're a part of your character. So if the boys had grown up 'normally', I think Dean would have been a good man and a good brother, although never quite to the extent that he is on the show.

Thanks very much for the review, glad you liked the story (how it got featured will always be a mystery to me. Who decides those things?)!

In another life, i might have been a perfectly sane girl, liking Supernatural but never a fanatic.

Thank god it doesn't happen though.

And thank god the show doesn't happen like that.

But thanks for giving us a great story of what-might-have-been. :)

Author's Response:

Nah. Some things are just... destiny. Fatum est.

Thanks for the review, glad you liked my twisted little might-have-been!

Oh this is so ... god ... terrible!

This has me choked and all sort of wibbly.

Thanks

Author's Response:

Thanks? For making you wibbly?

No, I know what you mean, and I'm glad you "enjoyed" it. Thanks for the review!

WoW...that's all I can say...well almost.

This was very enjoyable, imaginative, unique, well written and actually very scary. The thought that none of the series ever happened made me quite sad and scared...a tribute to your talent.

I loved it!

Author's Response: Thanks ever so much! And all I really did was expand on "What Is", when Dean learns the cost of his happiness... I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Holy crap! I’m just stunned! Literally sitting here gobsmacked!! Just need to catch my breath…

We’ve all often wondered ‘what if?’ Pondered the life our Winchesters would have led if events had been different. Yeah, it all felt happy-ever-after, nice and cushy, and you lulled me into a false sense of security.

Instead you showed that life’s path still went on with the same destination in mind, just the route was changed. The boys so totally unprepared, Sam’s destiny still pre-ordained, and the Winchester’s still destined to experience loss and grief like no other.

I loved this drabble, even if I’m freaked out!!!! This is incredible in originality and in written expression. The blue ribbon as a featured story is well earned and deserved. Exceptional work.

Author's Response:

I'm featured? I'm featured! How did that happen? *claps hands in delight*

I'm also squee-ing, you do write me the loveliest reviews EVER, you know. To give the WInchesters the perfect life, you'd have to make Azazel non-existant, I think. Even if Mary had lived, even if John had never hunted, he still would have marked Sammy! Sometimes we forget that in our rush to imagine the boys happy for a change...
