This is intriguing so far...Hmmmmm, those two guys coming into town sound faintly familiar..wonder who they could be? :P

Author's Response: Yes, they do seem awfully familiar... and darn attractive.  I loved writing a western and seeing the guys in a new setting.  I hope you enjoy the rest.  Later, B.J.

ouch - things are never easy for a winchester are they? lovely little fight scene, fast-paced and just a bit bloody - and the whiskey? ouch again...

Author's Response: Westerns are known for a little fisticuffs, where men are men and tend to fight in bars.  I do love a good western fight scene.  Thanks for reading and reviewing, B.J.

This was a fantastic story from start to finish..I really liked the characters you used..I was so afraid that the whole town was going to turn into vampires..I didn't see this ending coming..I liked how you tied in Luthor and Elkins..Thanks for writing..it was a great read.

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading.  I do love my westerns and I got a thrill when Kripke mentioned he might do a pre-quel in the old west.

I sure would like to see that, especially with J & J.  Someday I might do another western, I do love and miss Deke, Jake and Scotty!  That is if I can ever find the time.

Take care, B.J.

hmm - only just found this story, but it looks intriguing! (gotta love old, completed fics - the cliffie demon can go torment someone else!)

Author's Response:

I hope you enjoy it.  You can read at your leisure and not worry about when the next update is coming.

Some love the cliffies and I've done my fair share, but I also prefer to read completed stories.

Thanks for reading and reviewing, B.J.

Ah, this was great, a taste of the Old West, Winchester-style. Thanks for a fun read.   Sue

Author's Response: Thanks, Sue!  I do love my westerns and imagining J & J in the Old West is great fun.  Take care, B.J.

Steal a horse!  AAhhh...gasp...horror...that's truly low.  The bastard got what he deserved, heck he deserved more!

I loved Valentine, Tx...and this is just as wonderful

Laura

Author's Response:

Thanks, Laura.  I do love my westerns and always meant to get back to Deke, Scott and Jake, but you know how it goes... too many stories and not enough time!

Maybe I can just bring them back for some shorter one-shots.  Thanks for the shiny stars.  Take care, B.J.

Hi. Not sure how soon my sister will be doing her own reviewing, so I want to make sure everyone who has written a story for the challenge gets a thank you from our family.  This story will definitely make her smile - we grew up all over the place at one base or another, but home base for us is Texas at the family ranch - a horse thief is still in serious hot water out there - she'll love it.  Thank you, Sam  (and Jake and Nate)

Author's Response:

Thanks, guys!  I had a feeling with the name cowboy that you all might appreciate a good ol' western.  I certainly love them and it was an honor to revisit my western version of the Winchesters for the "Get Well, Angela" challenge.

Angela is in my prayers and I know she'll be up and around soon.  Just keep taking care of your family.

Love, B.J.

every curve of his manly frame... holy hell, i just fell in the sewer!

Author's Response:

Pick yourself off and get back on the horse! LOL

Thanks for reading.  Later, B.J.

Very nice job, I've read and enjoyed Valentine and here you went above and beyond that whole wet naked Winchester suggestion...lol. Thanks for the read, I have no doubt it'll bring a smile to Angela's face  ;) Kel

Author's Response:

Thanks, Kel,

All for a good cause, right?  Lord knows, I'd never drench the boys otherwise.  If I hadn't had the word limit I'd have gotten Scott in the creek too!  Maybe next time.

Take care, B.J.

That was a brilliant story, very funny.

I adored valentine Texas,it was great to read more about the early Winchesters.

Author's Response:

Thanks!  I do love my westerns.  Maybe with Kripke considering doing a western prequel there will be more interest in the early Winchesters.

I certainly plan on doing another when time permits.  As it was, it was very nice to revisit them for a one-shot.

Take care, B.J.

Alternate universe leaking thru every 10 years? Cuz I really couldn't buy reincarnation. Confused about the 2 bullets given to them, however, wasn't sure about the part they played in the scheme and if they were in the TV show or if I am just dense and am not picking up on something. I really enjoyed the western, thanks!

Author's Response:

Glad you enjoyed my western, wonder if Kripke will ever get his own pre-story Western made?  I'd love it if he did.

No, the two bullets was just my way of trying to keep the colt viable.  At the time I wrote this they still HAD the colt, but only the one bullet left.  I had no idea Ruby would come along with the secret recipe to make more.  LOL

One of these days I'd like to revisit Deke, Scott and Jake.  I miss them!  Take care, B.J.

I wondered where this tale was taking us. Cool! Nice addition of Luther into the mix.

Author's Response:

You must be catching up on several of my stories today!  Thanks!

Yeah, I really just wanted to do a Supernatural western and this was great fun for me.  I couldn't really have Luther around tho cause he would have recognized the Winchesters and even tho this might seem AU to some, I try to stay within what I know to be true at the time I write it.

Take care, B.J.

that was a brilliant story,it was different from anything i have ever read.i really enjoyed it.outstanding.

Author's Response:

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!  I have always loved westerns, and I totally agree with Kripke that our Winchesters are just in a modern day western... the good guys battling the bad guys.

I would love for Kripke to give us his version of Sam Colt and the origins of the gun, and how the early hunters did it on horseback... but J & J must play roles in the old west version too!

I think our Texas boys would enjoy playing the early characters too.  Jensen is always saying he wants to do a western, this is his chance!

Take care, B.J.

loved every bit of that story it blew me away ! fantastic idea well written , loved the way the characters mirrored the modern ones . brill . think this is the best story i ve read so far , and i ve read dozens .

Author's Response:

Wow!  Thank you very much!  I love the idea of seeing the Winchesters in the old west.  I wish the show could incorporate it in some way.  I think it'd be a great way to explore the Samuel Colt angle and then we could also get JDM back as Jake!

Thanks for reviewing, much appreciated, B.J.

Thw whole story together was absolutly wonderful. It had that great draw of the old west that almost everyone just loves, but with the characters we do. Old west fans, eat your hearts out!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! I love westerns and it was great to be able to place our heroes in the old west and enjoy them in a different setting.

This story was a tremendous joy to write and I am so pleased there are old west fans out there.

Take care, B.J.

Aw yay I loved this story!!  I kept it when you sent it to me and always enjoyed going back and reading it.  Glad to see its getting so many stars over here.  :)

I still think you should write another one, I love the old western type appeal, that was awesome.

Just had to bow to you again BJ.  Awesomeness.  :)

~Kris
(the crazy girl bad internet so you had to email me the story)

Author's Response:

Hey thanks, Kris.  You are too kind. So glad you made it back safely and you have good internet service now!

I too love westerns and this was a total joy to write.  I will definitely write another one at some point, but time is always a problem.  I have about five stories started right now.

With the S2 AHBL2 again referencing Sam Colt, the wheels are turning on how I could do another story.

Always great to hear my stories are appreciated. Take Care, B.J.

This is such a cool story, love the old West theme, and well, can't go wrong with boys on horses!

Great job!

Laura

Author's Response: Absolutely, that was the original fantasy! LOL Thanks again, B.J.

I like it. i have not read anything like it so far.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I love westerns and I know as Texans the boys do too, so it seemed a natural.

Who wouldn't want to put those hot Winchesters in cowboy gear and let them saddle up? LOL

I just saw an opportunity with Dead Man's Blood to pursue the history of the colt. It was great fun to write.  I seriously want to do a sequel. Later, B.J.

Great chapter.  I really like this story very much.

Oops! How did I miss responding to this? Sorry, love to hear my stories are appreciated.

Again, one of my favorites to write.  So much fun! Thanks again, B.J.

Where do I start? You know I have been your biggest fan of this story from the beginning. And you have not disappointed me one bit. This was such a wonderful story I may just have to read it again!

So Valentine was a vanishing town, eh? But I like that...I love how they got to talk to Jake and the momentos that he left for Sam and Dean. And the two additional bullets...absolutely clever! Makes me wonder if something like that could actually happen on the show. After all, we have no idea what happened to those "lost" bullets.

I would love for Sam and Dean to come back in ten years to learn more.

I really do hope that you right another AU story with the boys. I immensely enjoyed this one and I was happy every time I saw an update.

Kudos on a brilliant job and such a wonderful story!

Stephanie

P.S. Too bad my phone number couldn't have been left in that box for Sam...a girl can dream, right? :)

Author's Response:

You have been my #1 fan on this story and it has been so wonderful.  I have looked forward to your reviews!

I was a little disappointed on the show when John traded the colt for Dean's life (what did I just say?  Of course I wanted Dean to live by whatever means!) because I too thought it would be interesting to explore where the rest of the bullets were and the history of the colt.

I loved them seeing Jake and being confused by what was really happening here, how  and why it happened. Maybe someday I will write a follow up story.  I do love my westerns!

Yes, a girl can dream and since Sam has those visions who knows what he might see there.  Your number might just show up on some motel stationary and he will be compelled to ring you up and see if you are in any distress!

Just remember to say Hi! and tell him to send Dean my way. LOL

Thanks again for all the supernatural support.  You've been grand. Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: supernaturalsam (Signed) · Date: 19/02/07 09:26 PM · On: Valentine, Texas

Well, I didn't see that one coming! Valentine doesn't exist!?

You certainly know how to throw a curve ball at us! But I have to admit, I liked it. I was like Dean and Sam...something was just a little weird with this town.

Off to the last chapter!

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked that twist.  When you're writing these stories you never know if it works or not. Nice to hear that it is believable and especially nice to know it surprises the reader. Thanks again, B.J.

I love the story but not sure how I feel about the evil one having my name! That was just a little creepy! lol

Author's Response: Sorry about that Lila, nothing personal! Glad you liked the story. Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: d6l2j7 (Signed) · Date: 18/02/07 08:10 AM · On: Valentine, Texas

This was a great story, I loved how you had Dean and Sam meet Jake at the end of the story that was cool.  I also liked the fact that you had two bullets left for the colt.  I wish Kripke would consider that.

Author's Response:

Thanks. Yeah, I always thought the colt would figure into the story more, but once John traded it away for Dean's life, I thought oops there goes my idea of more bullets! LOL

This story was a pleasure to write and I am so pleased so many readers also enjoyed it.

Reviewer: auroradannon (Signed) · Date: 17/02/07 11:49 PM · On: Valentine, Texas

I really enjoyed reading this story. I could see it all playing out in my minds eyes. Great job!

Author's Response: That is a great compliment. Thank you. It was a joy to write about the early Winchesters and explore the origins of the colt. B.J.
