Samantha, Great story. I love how you showed John's love for Dean and Sam. A lot of stories on this site tell how hard and obsessed John was. You told a different side and showed us how much he truly loved Dean and Sam. I look forward to part 2. Rbliss

I have admit that i have not read Supernatural fanfiction in YEARS for the very point you said: John is portrayed as hard, obsessed, and unloving. Therefore, I am so glad you like my version of John. Yikes! I didn't see that happening. Now, John and Caleb need to be extra careful not to bring any attention to themselves. The police already have John in their radar because of what happened to Dean. It's good that Dean is recovering nicely and he has his little champion there to help him out. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this chapter. I wanted to smack Caleb at times though. I'm glad Jim was able to explain things to Sam. It is heart warming to see John's worry over Dean. He acts like a father should whom loves his boys. Now we have Dean waking from surgery. I'm looking forward to the next chapter and see what happens with those other hunters who shot Dean.

I tried to make him into a wise-cracking hunter much like we see Dean in the series to show that Dean had bad influences in his life that account for his bad behavior as an adult. Gulp, that sounds bad! Poor Dean, looks like his recovery is gonna take even longer. I well imagine Sammy is really scared and not really understanding what is going on. Looks like John might not be able to take much more of his hurt boy. I do worry for Irene, especially if those goons get wind that she is trying to figure out who was hunting in the area. I eagerly look forward to the next chapter!!
Author's Response: Sam is very scared with all the surgeries and nobody really explaining to him what is going on. No worries, though, it will be explained to him. :) John is practically at his breaking point, but any father would be in this situation. Poor, poor Dean! Looks like he'll be laid up for awhile. I just can't imagine that for a 10 year old boy. I do love your John in this story. This is how I picture him while the boys were young. And yikes! Those other hunters sound as bad as the supernatural things they hunt. Something truly needs to be done about them. I'm looking forward to reading the next chapter.

Awesome start. Kevin seems a real psycho... Not sure what his issue is taking pot-shots at other hunters much less innocents kids in the woods, but god help him when he faces John Winchesters wrath. Always nice seeing Pastor Jim and Caleb in a fic. Love Pre series for that. Can't wait for more! Tree

I didn't get a chance to read your other stories before jumping into this one. Loved all the background with Caleb and Jim, and how you wove elements of the series into the last chapters. Really cool!
