I am so glad Dean finally got out. I was a little afraid of the torture Meg would inflict and the fact that she enjoyed it so much, that...

Well I'll say now that I'm enjoying your hell. The seeming reprieve Dean gets from physical torture only to be brought low by mental one. And the way the demons taunt him...I imagine that's what SPN hell would be like if we'd been given more detail. I also love the use of the biblical verses to get across some of the more potent imagery.

Sam's pain too struck me to the heart as well as Bobby's. You really showed his deep care for the Winchesters without belaboring the point.

Wee!Dean, boy was he harsh to grown up Dean but I guess it makes sense. I liked the interaction especially as Dean didn't know who he was and I loved the charge when he accused Dean of never paying attention to him.

Great Read!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much!  It is awesome to get such a lovely review on an older story.

While it was hard seeing Dean being tortured and abused in Hell, it was also very interesting to imagine what kind of torture would hurt him the most.  Dean can take physical pain, he is tough and determined, but what has always most hurt him is the emotional stuff.  Feeling like he wasn't the man Dad wanted him to be, feeling that his family would leave him.

When I was writing this I had no idea Kripke would actually go there with angels and God in his universe.  He was always so adamant that God wasn't a part of his Supernatural world, and yet so many signs pointed to heavenly intervention and really, who deserves to be saved by God more than a Winchester?

I always see the love and devotion between Sam and Dean and I knew losing Dean would trigger so much pain and regret.  While this story focuses more on Dean, the pain Sam and Bobby also felt was immense.

I loved writing wee!Dean fighting for himself.  Dean does need to practice self-care and in his rush toward manhood and his need to protect Sam, he did neglect his own desires and needs.

I am very proud of this story, it seems to have come together very well.  I am so glad you are enjoying it, thanks again, B.J.

i cant wait for the next chapter to see what happens when dean finally confronts sam

Author's Response: I'm sorry to say it will probably be awhile until another chapter posts.  My computer blew a gasket and I'm hopeful that all of my stories in various stages are still there, but I don't know at this point.  Life is very busy now, but eventually I will be finishing this story.  It is embarrassing how long this story has been neglected.  Take care, B.J.

I also wanted to comment on Sam's characterization in this (and please excuse typos in my previous review!)

It was a shame we didn't get to see Sam's deep emotional reaction to Dean's deal---until the very end of S3. You showed us how realistically he would've been feeling...stellar writing!

Author's Response:

Thanks again!  Yes, I loved exploring how torn up Sam would be over the deal and I also loved having him see Dean in a new light.  I love when either boy has that awakening where they realize that they don't know everything about their brother.

This show does such a good job of showing all their layers, but I do think they didn't delve as deeply into how Sam felt about the deal.  Just not enough time, I suppose, but that is where fanfics come in to fill the void of what we desire and what they are able to show in only 22 episodes.

Thanks again, B.J.

Wow, BJ, another amazing story!

I know this was written awhile ago, but I had heard about it as a marvelous example of understanding Dean's character---it moscertainly is that!

So very poignent the way Lani is drawn to the depth and frailty that is Dean...while also seeing the brave gallantry that is also always there.   Well done!

Author's Response:

What a lovely review!  I love getting reviews on older stories, and to hear that someone thought this was a good understanding of Dean's character, well that makes my day!

Oh, how I would love to see a girl really know Dean and understand him.  I think we got really close with Jamie in Monster Movie.  I loved how she validated that what Dean did was important but also how hard it was for him.

Thank you for a very nice review.  Take care, B.J.

So glad you were recommended to me! Another great piece---you really have Dean's essence down.

Loved how you describe his voice as  rough and tender at the same time---that sums him up-eh?

So sweet how Sammy is so overwhelmed at yet determined by the end.

Wish we could've seen this in S3---Well done!

Author's Response: Why thank you.  I'm glad someone recommended me and I'm really glad you feel I have Dean's essence down.  That truly is the greatest compliment since he is such a complex and fascinating man.  Oh, there is so much I wish we had gotten to see in S3, drat that old writers' strike!  Take care, B.J.

Beautifully painful! One could really feel the ache in Sam's heart.  That was such a tragic Wednesday......"a silent, painful stillness before his eyes fixed and his heart quit beating and the world stopped turning" .  I liked how Sam's despair even made him wish his memories of Dean would fade.....but they kept haunting Sam. Great job!

Author's Response: I really appreciate that you think I captured Sam's despair.  He truly was a broken man in MS and it wasn't any better when Dean went to Hell for real.  Poor Sammy. Thanks for reading and reviewing, B.J.

What a heartbreaking tag to Mystery Spot... if only we all could have known then how much it would mirror the end of that season...

Nicely done!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Tree!

Kripke certainly laid all the groundwork for both NRFTW and Lazarus Rising, didn't he?  We saw Sam go very dark in MS and when Dean died for real, he went just as dark and became just as lost.  Seems he didn't learn whatever lesson the Trickster was trying to tell him.  Later, B.J.

This was a beautifuly written oneshot.

I loved the Dean snowflake line, really beautiful.

Author's Response: Thank you.  Dean is rather unique, isn't he?  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: winchester chick 666 (Signed) · Date: 05/06/09 02:17 PM · On: White Room

Hey! Kripke totally stole your idea in WTLB.

Except, you know - they did it with Sam.

Tell me he actually remembered to send you the memo on that one.

Author's Response:

What can I say?  The man is a thief!  He most definitely did not send me any memos and he blatantly stole my idea!  LOL  And I think he even got the notion for Anna and Cas writing with the blood from me.

*Sigh* I only wish the man did want some of my ideas...I'd be happy to share and be more of an active part of the show.  *wink* Until he contacts me, I guess I'll just keep plugging along writing my little stories with his characters.

Thanks for reading and the great review.  Take care, B.J.

Oh wow, so much brotherly love, it fills my heart and makes it fly high. Awesome one shot. Hugs, Vonnie

Author's Response: Aw, Vonnie!  Thank you!  I do love those brotherly love moments, and we've had way too few this last season.  Hugs to you too, B.J.

Wow, that was a beautifuly written story, some lovely brother moments,i loved it.

Author's Response: Thank you!  I love those brotherly moments and it was nice to revisit S3, especially now that we know the end result in S4.  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: Primrose (Signed) · Date: 03/06/09 08:21 AM · On: Reckless

That's the brotherly bond that I love, and miss.  I hope they get it back.  GREAT story!

Author's Response: Thanks for reading and reviewing.  Yes, I love that brotherly bond and I do think we are on track for more brotherly moments in S5.  Take care, B.J.

WOW!! That was really something :D that was so moving and powerful, yet tender and touching in all the right places too

Amazing job on this fic, I absolutely loved it

Soph xx

Author's Response:

Thanks, Soph!

I'm really glad it worked.  I wanted to show real anger in Dean, but it to be understood that it all came from love and fear.  These boys certainly know how to pile on the angst.  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: calUK (Signed) · Date: 03/06/09 02:45 AM · On: Reckless

Awww... *sniffles* Such a perfect rollercoaster - frantic and angry and sad and in the end, hopeful. you caught the boys in S3 spot on, hun, messed up and clinging on to whatever they could. Loved it!

Author's Response: Thanks, Cal, what a wonderful review.  Yep, I was trying to capture all those emotions and I'm glad it came through.  Such angst for the boys but also such love, making their sacrifices for each other even more tragic because they do what they do out of pure love.  Later, B.J.

That was hiliarious!!!

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.  It was great fun to write.  Take care, B.J.

Loved it!  A lot of people write a lot of stories with a lot of dialog.  But BJ.....you've got it down pat!  Perfect Dean badgering Sam as always.  Perfect Sam with impatience and hurt.  One could really feel the fear Sam had for Dean and for himself, knowing what pain would most likely be coming soon.  Great job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!  I love writing dialogue between the boys and while I realize they wouldn't normally ever talk this much on the show, I take license in my stories so I can have more of that wonderful bantering they do so well.  I'm really glad you found it fit in with their characters and how they would talk.  Thanks again, B.J.

I've love each and everyone of your stories.  I hope you continue with this one.  Its one of my favorites and I need to know what happens! :)

Author's Response: Thank you!  I appreciate the kind words.  And I apologize for not finishing this story in a timely manner.  It will be completed at some point, but I can't say when.  It is the toughest story I have ever attempted and RL is a major roadblock right now.  I just don't have the time to properly devote to it.  In the meantime, I do hope you enjoy my other stories, the ones that aren't so impossible to write.  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: lkapp (Signed) · Date: 26/05/09 06:00 PM · On: Somethin' To Talk About

very good.  totally sounds like what the two would be saying under the circumstances.  especially Dean.

Author's Response: Thank you!  The actors and writers have developed Sam and Dean to the point that I swear sometimes I think they are actually in my head, I hear them so clearly when they get into these bantering moods.  And I always feel most comfortable speaking for Dean.  Glad it worked for you.  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: zz1989 (Signed) · Date: 26/05/09 05:51 PM · On: Somethin' To Talk About

Some of yours were as good as the ones shown on the episode.  :)

Author's Response: Oh, thank you!  The show had some great ones, and especially getting to see Jensen and Jared act them out, and react to the deaths was so fantastic.  Glad you enjoyed my story and how I chose to dispose of Dean... LOL  Later, B.J.

B.J.!

I can't believe that you steam rollered Dean!! That's just evil, funny but evil 'cos I could see Sam's face as I read it!

This was funny in our special twisted Supernatural humoured way, can't wait for the tragic one. *pulls tissues next to the screen and waits.*

Cheers Mary x

Author's Response: Thanks, Mary!  Yeah, who would have ever thought we'd find Dean dying so funny?  And I had to come up with something special for him, you know how much pleasure he got from the offbeat deaths.  Thanks for reading and reviewing.  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: Primrose (Signed) · Date: 26/05/09 12:54 PM · On: Somethin' To Talk About

Funny and sad at the same time!  I enjoyed reading this very much- enough that I was still laughing about it over breakfast, and my kids wondered what I was smiling about.

Author's Response: Thanks! Isn't it nice to have those special Supernatural smiles and make everyone wonder why you are so happy?  I'm glad my story followed through on their brilliant episode, making us laugh while realizing the pain poor Sammy is in watching Dean die.  I simply love Mystery Spot and it has given me the most story tags of any episode.  Thanks for reading and reviewing.  Later, B.J

This clever little story was very enjoyable - Love the brotherly banter-- was totally funny ;D- MS was a great episode, and I look forward to your 2nd Mystery Spot story!

Author's Response: Thanks!  Mystery Spot is simply brilliant and normally I'm not compelled to write tags for perfect episodes, but they left so much prime real estate there as far as taking it further.  How many more ways could Dean have died?  LOL  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: darkhunter (Signed) · Date: 26/05/09 07:50 AM · On: Somethin' To Talk About

This was a brilliant tag, so funny, i can't stop laughing, well done.

I'm looking forward to reading the tragic one when it goes up.

Author's Response: Thanks, again!  I was going to post the tragic story first and then thought after S4, we all needed to see that brotherly bonding in a positive, light manner.  I think we all could use a good laugh, even if poor Sammy didn't find it so funny.  Take care, B.J.

--Goes to show you I am a newbie at posting reviews here: I accidentally posted THIS review on another of your stories <g>.THIS is what I wanted to say about this story (which blew me away, BTW):
I finished reading this and all I could think was...Man, now THAT was as perfectly written as any short story I have read so far, and believe me, I have read a lot <g>. The pain that each of them carries, and hides, so well, just seeps from this story. I loved it.

Author's Response:

Thank you!  Yes, I remember being a newbie and being so confused about the whole process, not even realizing how much reviews would mean to a writer.

You give me high praise and I thank you.  Fresh Blood was an amazing episode and they had such brilliant dialogue between the brothers, but there were so many silent looks from both Sam and Dean and so much emotion lurking there.

I'm really pleased that my attempts to fill in the blanks worked.  Take care, B.J.

Reviewer: amethyst (Signed) · Date: 30/12/08 05:22 PM · On: Choices

that was fantastic, you got the characters voices down perfectly. I'll always be a Dean girl but you made me just want to hug Sam. Thankyou and have a happy new year

Author's Response:

Thanks, amethyst!

I've always been a Dean gal too, but Sam is so very fascinating and the love both brothers have for each other is the foundation of the show.  You can't love one without appreciating and loving the other.

Happy New Year!

B.J.
