I like the detail in the description of death, Dean's death. There is very little good in dying traumatically and you captured it here. But there was also the brotherly love I live for. Can't believe they both died!

I love how you format things, Roweena. You always seem to try something new, even if it's just a small something. The "There are times..." is so awesome, and I feel like a big dork because I can't think of another way to state that.

I so love formatting.

Also love the way you string words together. They sort of tear at you here, because you use such vivid language. It's not just written, but painted. You paint a picture with words, and it's beautiful.

This here was my favorite:

There are times when you are helplessly looking on as your inner emptiness claws its way out, gnashing, tearing and ripping at your heart until it's nothing but a crimson mess of lost memories and feelings.

Great job.

<3 Jenn

(sorry if there is giant font here, I couldn't fix the review)

Author's Response:

Jesus, jenn. Do you know you just made me cry??? I needed a cheer up, very bad. I go on UnGen and I find this? maaaan.... I am being serious here, CRYING.

I dunno what to say other than your words are very very very much appreciated.  The line you quoted is my fav too. I must have rewritten it like a million times... Glad it worked for you too!

I paint with my words? Dude, I swear that's the lovliest thing anyone ever said to me... And to get these words of praise when I mostly sweat over my dictionary to find the right expression... well that just makes it more than worth the while.

Formatting, yeah I do try something new every now and then, heh. Again, glad you like that.

In closing, thanks so much babe. I can now go to bed with a much lighter heart!

Hugs, Ilka

Hey Hunny

Poor Dean, he's feeling blue, perhaps he needs to get out into the country and feed carrots to the donkleys and Azazel the sheep! Heehee

Was good to see ya Ilka

Author's Response:

You made me cry again, but i loved this, it was beautifuly written.

Reviewer: Sarahzilla (Signed) · Date: 16/02/10 03:26 PM · On: Dead Inside

Wow.  Just... wow.

To put into words those kind of feelings is a huge achievement.  This is a beautiful piece.

Author's Response:

Thanks hunny. Weird, musta missed some notifications... didn't know you reviewed me. Sorry for that.

I am blushing here like crazy. Heehee. 5 stars and such kind words... glad you liked it. It was an attempt at some sort of poetic prose... if that makes any sense at all.

Cheers, Ilka

Very stark.  But fitting given what we've seen.  Nice work.

Author's Response:

oooh, hi Nessa. Haven't seen you in my reviews in a long time. Thanks for that. That's a rare treat!

I know, it is very dark and desperate (hence the tissue warning). But yeah, it fits his current state of mind. I hope it won't last too long!

Yay for season 6 again! Booooyaaaah!

I think we posted our stories at almost the same time :)  Awesome!  I love this- especially the end.  Isn't it true that when you are REALLY at the bottom, then you have to reach faith?  At the same time, Dean KNOWS that even the angels say that God is dead!  For him, it really is a desperate cry.  *sniffle*

Author's Response:

HAHA! Jules, I reviewed you too! LOL. This is awesome!

And yeah, it must have cost him dearly to call out for help. And I would hate to see his prayer go unanswered...

Thx for reviewing, sweetie! And of course stars are always welcome!

Hugs, Ilka

Haha, loved it. Dean being afraid of flying makes me laugh so hard. Thanks for posting!

Poor Bobby!  That would have been unendurable to see the hope die in little Dean's eyes.

"The boy had never again written another letter to Santa Claus, wished upon a shooting star, prayed to his guardian angel.  That year make-belief had left Dean's life for good."  That passage almost made me weep.

Author's Response:

Damn right. It would've killed me to see that happen. Not enough that he lost his mom. Now he's lost his remaining innocence, his childhood belief in magic. So sad.

Thanks again for takin' the time to comment! Very much appreciated!

Have a Merry Christmas, my dear!

See you on the other side!

Cheers, Ilka

Awww!  The letter is visually beautiful and Dean's wish for his mom is heart-wrenching.

Author's Response:

Hey Shannon. Thanks for the review(s)!

I can only imagine that a boy who has lost his mommy would wish for that. And it hurts me to think ANY boy would need to write such a letter...

I hadda go for the poster instead of simply typing it. Felt wrong (not just coz my spellcheck went completely nuts with the words...lol). Seems just the right thing to show the letter as it would have looked like.

Glad you liked it!

Oh, sniff, you got me. Now I've got to find something happy to read, quick. But awesome story/drabble/concept/whatever.

Sue

Author's Response:

A letter from Castiel, i loved this one, great idea.

Merry xmas.

Author's Response:

Hey Lindsay! Have a Merry Christmas too!

I had the Cas one in my head even before the other one. Only it took AGES to finish. Was tough to write. Have three other versions on my computer... very different ones.

Cheers, Ilka

This is really sweet! Even Bobby got in on it. Couldn't help saying something about this one too. I loved  it! It explains why Dean is so skeptical about anyone offering him something good and why he expects bad to happen all the time. And Sam the fact that Sam and his greif were mentioned here too, too much! I think i'm going to cry!

Author's Response:

Hey, sorry, this took so long. Been reading and voting for the awards... Still, THANKS for reading and reviewing! I feel so bad for making all you fine people cry... most of the time... But then again, I am glad that the story reverberates with you!

Thx!, Ilka

OMG! This is really sweet. I can so see the image of the cute little Dean Winchester writing this to Santa.

Author's Response:

Heehee! Just typing this in wouldn't have been the same!

Thanks for the stars!

Cheers, Ilka

 Jess

Author's Response:

Hey Jess! Thanks for reviewing and the pretty stars!

Isn't Cas always feeling awkward? Heehee. I swear EACH time he tilts his head to the side he is thinking: Oh for heavens sake!

Merry Christmas!

INTERESTING!  Castiel knows that Santa is real, AND has chosen not to take sides politically.  I love it that he asks for a simple clue to help him find God- what would he do if he ended up with a lump of coal for a clue?

Author's Response:

THANK YOU. Heehee....

Well, I think concepts as Santa or the toothfairy are kinda neutral in the whole thing. But at the same time Santa has been a man of the church way back in time. SO I guess he would have to chose sides in this war. If he existed.

I think to ask for a clue is as far as Cas would EVER go in asking for help. Esp. on this. He would ask Sam and Dean but it would seem he has run out of ideas. Poor guy, a lump of coal would be even worse! That is if he gets the message...

Hugs ya, Merry Christmas, Ilka

Like the reminder that one of Santa's other identities is a Saint, it makes it more likely that he and an angel might talk, doesn't it?  Wonder if having multiple identities Santa can relate to the boys!!

Author's Response:

LOL. Or having to chose between Devil and Beelzebub you mean? Well, in case of the Winchesters I'd say their choice sucks out loud.

But having to chose between being a Saint and being a pop culture icon I'd say the icon gets to have much more fun. After all, saints usually died an awful, painful death...

Merry Christmas!

*sniff*  Now it's even sadder!!!  Great job capturing the tragic life that is the Winchesters'.  Now I gotta go dab my eyes!

Author's Response:

Oh dear, another one in tears... Glad that you still found the time to review and send me some stars!

*holds out a tissue*

Thanks! Ilka

Awww!  Wee!Dean's so cute.  And sad.

Thanks for leaving me a review. Or two ...

Excellent job on Cas's letter.  Hope Santa comes through!

You really deserve a pat on the back.  I think you did an excellent job writing a Dear Santa letter from Castiel.

Thanks! And some stars to go along!

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

This is sooo sad, I have a little lump in my throat, I know what it feels like to want your mum back for Xmas.

Great little story and again, I loved this letter. Mary xx

Author's Response:

Oh dear. Sorry for that. I mean it's cool that you could relate to Dean and Bobby. But I didn't want you to remember sad things in your own life. Sorry.

Thanks again. For reading and reviewing.

Too much talent for one person to have it is just not fair! *pouts*

Seriously, this is great, I love it! Mary xx

Author's Response:

Oi! No reason for poutin! I would gladly be talented in ONE of these arts enough to concentrate my real life on that. Sadly, I am not.

Thanks for the stars hun, off to your next review... awesome.

Excellent as always, so very sad, you made me cry, but i should have knowing you would write a sad story lol.

Author's Response:

Hey Lindsay.

Glad I met your expectations *blushes*

I had a go writing a funny one for this challenge... just can't do it... too bad.

Hope your tears have dried by now.

 Hugs ya!

Know I'm crying! Poor Dean, and poor Bobby too!

Loved it!

Dany

Author's Response:

 Hey Dany.

Thanks for R&R'ing! I'm sorry I made you cry--- wait. Maybe not. I love sad and angsty fics (reading and writing them). Plus: the only way I can think of Dean at that age and Bobby during that one long hot and desperate summer is of them being soooo sad. Broken.

Glad you liked it and thx for the shinies!
